H O L O B I O N T : / / an assemblage of a host and the many other species living in or around it, which together form a discrete ecological unit through symbiosis.

From its conception, I've strived to make TerraFirm embody the characteristics of the futurist's ideal ecosystem. Community, coherency, sustainability and the ability to self-renew have been the cornerstones of the label's A&R, aesthetics and narrative. In real and simple terms this meant assembling a group of connected, like-minded producers whose music re-envisioned the utopian future upon which Techno was built. This future transcends aesthetic fantasy, connecting our dystopian Earthly reality to a harmonious, interconnected and equitable future.

HOLOBIONT is the full and final realization of TerraFirm's mission and I can't imagine a better concept to bring this endeavor to a close. A holobiont (Latin: "the whole of life") is any collection of species that creates a complex ecosystem through symbiotic interactions. Holobionts exist on all scales of being, from the microscopic to the universal. Organelles combine to form the cellular holobiont; 30 trillion human cells and 38 trillion bacteria form the human holobiont; 9 million species, 11 biomes and an electromagnetic rock form the holobiont Earth and so on all the way up the cosmic scale.

This compilation is the coming together of a dozen artists for the common cause of raising money in the hopes of easing the suffering of our fellow humans in Gaza. The label was never meant to end this way but there couldn't be a more fitting finale.
